Usability Testing

Posted by Simon in Uncategorized with No Responses Yet

Usability is one of the most important elements of a successful website.  Users won’t judge you on usability, they will either use your site or leave.  This is especially true in today’s world, where internet users are looking for instant gratification and aren’t prepared to hunt around for what they want.  If you can’t provide what they want, when they want it, they’ll go somewhere that can.

This is a constant challenge for owners and operators of websites.  Unfortunately, many “web designers” aren’t equipped to impartially audit a website for usability.  This, ultimately, comes down to a combination of the investment they feel in their own design and a desire to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible.  These are often at odds with good usability.

Why?

Every website should put usability at the forefront of its design.  Almost every other metric by which you can judge the success of a website, sales, visitors, page views, conversions, are reliant on good usability.  Implementing the recommendations in out Usability Assessment can significantly improve the performance of your website in these key areas, as well as increasing user satisfaction thus driving more “word of mouth” visitors.  The sort of loyal visitors money can’t buy.

What?

Our Usability Assessment covers the following: -

  • Home Page Assessment - Is the information on your Home Page relevant and usefull?  Is there anything missing? Anything spurious?
  • Navigation Assessment - How easy is the site to navigate?  Are you Object Focused or Task Focused, and which is most appropriate for your visitors?
  • Layout & Design Assessment - Is your layout and design conducive to the purpose of your site?
  • Information Gaps - Are you supplying the type, and detail of information your visitors expect?  Are there any glaring omissions?
  • Feature Assessment - Are there features that should be on your site, but aren’t?  Do you provide functionality that isn’t as usable as it should be?
  • Technical Assessment* - Does the site work across multiple browsers?  On mobile devices?  Are there any bugs or security holes?
